Online Resources
Technology has an ever-increasing role in our lives, and a knowledge of how to use it responsibly will be key to your success in adult life. I value technology for the way it can enhance our ability to learn and communicate. Below are some resources we may use together in class.
Digital Texts
Audiobooks and ebooks are always acceptable alternatives to traditional texts. For class novels, you are welcome to use an audio or digital edition if that is what you prefer.
-
The Somerset County Library has a collection of ebooks and audiobooks available for download. (If you don't have a library card, you can get one for free.)
-
OverDrive: download this app if you'd like to use your phone to read/ listen to electronic books from the Library.
Online Reading and Writing Resources
The internet is full of great resources to support the study of literature. I encourage my students to use reputable sites like Shmoop or Sparknotes to help with understanding and analysis of our class reading. However, please be sure the work you do is your own.
You can also use the internet for help with your writing!
-
Add the Grammarly extension to Chrome for feedback on your grammar as you type.
-
Citation Machine can help you build a Works Cited page.
-
The Perdue Online Writing Lab can help you with MLA style and academic writing in general.
Mobile Apps
I use the Remind app to communicate with students. Please download this free app and turn on notifications.
Other apps I recommend:
-
CamScanner: scan paper to PDF using your smartphone camera for free!
-
GoodReads: explore, review, and share books you've read on this free social reading app.
